Adam W. Rives, M.D.

Orthopedic Surgeon, Hand Surgery Specialist

Adam W. Rives, M.D. is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery with a Certificate of Added Qualification in Hand Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and a Member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. An honors graduate of Bates College, he received his medical training at Tulane University School of Medicine followed by Orthopedics training at the University of Missouri, Kansas City. He subsequently completed a fellowship in hand, upper extremity, and microvascular surgery at the University of California, San Francisco with Lisa Lattanza, MD. Dr. Rives practiced Orthopedic Surgery in Missouri following completion of his training, before returning home to Santa Barbara. Dr. Rives has served as the Chairman of the Department of Surgery for Liberty Hospital in Liberty, MO, also serving on the medical executive, perioperative governance, and quality and performance improvement committees. He was appointed Chief Resident in Orthopedic Surgery while in Kansas City and was awarded the Resident of the Year by the department staff. He has taught numerous physician, resident physician, and allied staff education courses, and has helped develop orthopedic implants involved in fracture fixation. Dr. Rives enjoys working with patients to help them return to their healthy, active lifestyles by restoring the form and function of their hands and arms.

In his free time, he enjoys cycling, running, and automotive restoration. Dr. Rives relishes the opportunity to provide exceptional personalized attention to the communities of Santa Barbara, Ventura, and surrounding counties.
